Therapy for teens who are carrying a lot
If your teen seems overwhelmed, shut down, or harder to reach lately, we can help you think through next steps. We work with teens in a way that respects them and keeps parents in the conversation when helpful.
What people bring us
Teens often come in when school, friendships, family conflict, or pressure to keep it together starts piling up. Some are more irritable or withdrawn, and others are exhausted by trying to hold everything in. Parents may notice their teen is not acting like themselves and want guidance on what support could look like. Teen sessions can give them a place to speak more freely while still keeping the family part of the picture. We work in a way that is steady, clear, and age-appropriate.
- I am tired all the time, even when nothing happened.
- I do not want to talk at home about any of this.
- Everything gets on my nerves lately.
- I feel like I have to hold it together all day.
How we work with it
With teens, we may use therapy, medication conversations, or both depending on what is being brought in. We pay attention to school demands, family stress, sleep, mood, and the pressure teens often put on themselves. Parents or caregivers may be included in part of the conversation so everyone understands the plan. If meeting online is a better fit, telepsychiatry is also part of how we work.
What the first sessions look like
The first sessions are about getting to know what is going on from the teen’s point of view and what the parent is seeing at home or school. We decide together how to structure the work so the teen has room to talk and the family knows what support is being considered.

We take teens seriously without treating them like a problem to solve.
Questions people ask
Will you talk to my teen without me in the room?
Sometimes that is part of the process. We also make room for parents or caregivers when it helps the care.
Can you help if school stress is part of what is going on?
Yes. School pressure is often part of what teens bring in, and we can talk about that directly.
Do teens have to be on medication to get seen?
No. Medication is only one part of care and is discussed when it fits the situation.
Can my teen be seen through telepsychiatry?
Yes. Telepsychiatry can be part of care for teens when it is the right fit.
